Edward E. Lawler III is Distinguished Professor of Business and Director of the Center for Effective Organizations in the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California. He has been honored as a top contributor to the fields of organizational development, human resources management, organizational behavior and compensation. Gerry Ledford

Ph.D., Senior Research Scientist, Center for Effective Organizations | University of Southern California

A nationally recognized authority on aligning human capital practices to business strategy, Ledford's areas of interest include total rewards, employee engagement and involvement, talent management, work design, HR technology and large-scale change. He has deep experience with performance management, both as a consultant and researcher. He is leading a study of 244 companies that have adopted cutting-edge performance management practices, as well as a before-and-after study in a company that is piloting ratingless appraisal in four departments. Ledford also is guest editor of a special issue of the WorldatWork Journal that includes case studies from four major companies.

Ledford was a key contributor at the Center for Effective Organizations (CEO) from 1982-1998, and returned to CEO in September 2012 after working as a consultant from 1998-2012. He was a leader at Sibson Consulting from 1998-2003, where he served as senior vice president and practice leader for employee effectiveness. Since 2004, he has been president of Ledford Consulting Network LLC.

He is the author of more than 120 articles and 10 books. He is active in the Academy of Management, HRPS, WorldatWork and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. His awards include SHRM's Yoder-Heneman Personnel Research Award. He speaks frequently at professional groups and his opinions have been cited in many outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Business Week, Fortune, The Washington Post and on PBS.

Ledford has a Ph.D. in psychology and an M.A. in psychology from the University of Michigan, and a B.A. (with distinction) in psychology from George Washington University.
